| Why l’m involved: | “I have been involved in Little Athletics for 35 years, since Werribee Centre began. My four boys participated in Little Athletics – two of whom you would know – Denis was President of Executive Council along with other things, and Vincent is a Starter on the track. I have been marshalling on the track for twenty-eight years. I have met many nice parents during that time and the children are great. Many I have met over that time have their own children competing now. I see a lot of them on Saturday mornings. I have also had grandchildren, (Denis’) Brendan, Daniel and Brianna competing, and (Vincent’s) Colleen U13 and Renee U8 are currently Little A’s.” |

| Why l’m involved: | “Like many parents, when my kids started little athletics I used to watch them compete and volunteer to do an official task every couple of weeks. However, in my third year at the Centre there was a major turnover of committee people whose children had turned 15, so I accepted the Education Officer position on the Committee. Within 2 years several other experienced committee members had also left and I commenced a 4 year period as president of the Centre. My strong interests have been cross country and the Werribee Open Day, which I have managed for the last 8 years. The biggest highlight has been my involvement in the process that led to the Centre relocating from Galvin Park to our new synthetic track. Given this had been the aim for 30 years it was nice to be involved in the planning when it actually happened. On a weekly basis I try to do something different at each program to keep up to speed with all the events.” |
