Introduction to Coaching Course or On Track Workshops

The Introduction to Coaching course (ITCC) is aimed at giving people with little background knowledge in athletics the ability and confidence to coach basic level athletics to children. The course is great for parents or older brothers and sisters who want to know a little bit more about the sport and how to coach children, and to assist in training at Centre level. The sessions include both theory and practical elements.

On track workshops are a great way to assist with learning fundamental motor skills all the way through to athletic skills.

 JDS - Junior Development Squad

The Junior Development Squad(J.D.S) gives athletes an opportunity to gain new skills and improve technical competencies through participation in coaching and training sessions with some of Victoria's leading coaches. Training with other keen and enthusiastic squad members is both fun and motivational, and helps develop new friendships based on an enjoyment of athletics. The emphasis on learning new athletic skills, and improving existing ones, is in a friendly and supportive environment.

The JDS is open to Under 12 to Under 15 athletes in Season 2010/11 on the basis of qualification standards. The LAV JDS brochure provides an overview of the program, qualifying standards, fees and benefits etc. All applications using performances from last year 2009/10 season must apply before the 4th October, otherwise athletes must qualify in their new age group for season 2010/11.
